coralife t-5

Im thinking of going with a t-5 instead of a pc if i was going with the
Coralife S/W T-5 Aqualight Double Strip Light-48" T-5 lamps are 28 watts each
http://www.bigalsonline.ca/catalog/p...853&pcid1=1843
would that be enough or would i be better off with the Coralife Aqualight Retrofit Kit-48"-4 x 65 Watt

or maybe buying 2 t-5 would be even better ?

I would like to have mushrooms and easy corals like that and i've read that mushrooms don't like very hard light like t-5 but the people that had t-5 had like 4 x 54 watt and the one i want to buy are less watts. Do you think it will be better for them?

by the way i have a 75 gallon that is 21 inch deep aquarium

Thanks

You would need at least 4 lamps but as long as you stick to lower light stuff you will be fine.

so i would be better off with a powercompact and maybe add later on one strip of t-5 or should i get a better t-5 then the coralife.
If a get a better t-5 would it hurt to much my mushrooms?

A 4 lamp Tek T5 would be fine with shrooms and allow you to raise most LPS and even a few SPS if properly placed.

I'm running two Coralife T5 fixtures on my 120 gal and am quite happy with them. What I did though was I swapped one light from each fixture and now have two daylights in one fixture and two blue actinics in the other with timers so I can have the dawn/dusk effect. My tank is 24 inches deep.

Snake,

just keep in mind you have NO T5's instead of HO. Don't go trying to keep LPS on the sand under those. A couple people are having good luck with those on shorter tanks but in a 90 you can't be getting a great deal of light to the bottom.

I'm also running T5s on my second tank, a 20 gal mini-reef, (same set-up as my 120 gal) ........ no probs

IMO (and for my needs) T5's are more than OK. If and when I decide to keep hard corals perhaps I'll re-evaluate my lighting needs but until then my T5's are plenty fine.

Thanks.

JELLYBABY:

My T5's:

CORALIFE T-5 Aqualight Double Linear Strip.

...and I'm running 2 of these fixtures on both my tanks. It just happens that on my 20 gallon it's a much more intense and bright light which is fine enough to house a couple of soft corals.

My main tank (120 g) is FOWLR so the lighting is not crucial.

I picked them up from Big Al's on Sources Blvd.......I noticed you live in Montreal

yes im from montreal and that's where I go often to big al's on source blvd

I just don't know if the t-5 of coralife will be strong enough for my 75g, like i said before i don't just won't fish i want to put some soft corals.

I had my mind set to get the pc but when i got to big al's the lady there at the store told me the t-5 where better so i went back home to do some search but not alot of people i saw had those light on there tanks.

Im still confuse lol
