LR placed on the DSB, or not ?

Hello,

Everyone says that, LR should not touch the sand, this way, it will allow the water to flow, even, between the LR and the sand.
But, regarding to all the pictures I see, everyone places the rock (at least, some parts of it) directly on the sand.
Is this true, or there's a way of hiding the stands.
In my case, I used PCV tubes, but, one can see them, so, didn't work so fine, in the visual point of view.
Thanks

all my LR touches. i didnt see any PVC in the ocean last time i was snorkeling. lol! the reasoning is for the bio-filter provided by the rocks. if any is under sand it has less chance of being used for the purpose intended. also, it hides beauty of the rock and organisms that may grow there. hope this helped. good luck & REEF-ON!!
