Eheim Return Pumps
Apparently these pumps, Eheim 1200 series, are expensive, but so far they are looking a lot cheaper than the other pumps ive found. The other pumps are Iwakis, Lagunas. Thanks

theyre good pumps, but the iwakis/panworlds/bluelines/GRI are better (albiet louder). If you're looking for a good reliable quiet cheap submersible, look at Ocean Runner pumps. If price isnt an issue, eheim.

An internal pump will transfer more heat into your tank. That is the main downside.
However, running submerged will make the pump a bit more quiet and will usually make plumbing easier. |

I just replaced my mag with a eheim and couldn't be happier. The mags are too loud.

How much flow are you looking to achieve with the return pump? I used a Mag Drive on my last setup with good success. On my new setup I went with a Quiet One 6000, and it is working great. It is quieter and cooler than the Mag Drive, and the Quiet One is a larger model than the Mag Drive.

I dont know why people say mags are loud. My mag5 was DEAD SILENT. I mean you couldnt tell it was on silent.

It's a great pump, and more powerful than the equivalent mag. My 1260 is much more powerful than the Mag 7 it replaced
