keep uv...IMO will help with bad paracites, algae spores...but get rid of wet/dry go fuge and add light for good macro algae to grow in it...cheap lights of america lights at Sams Club....pi$$ yellow in color but great for fuge algea....
Grant...oh also add heater like the other said for constant temp.

Been a while since I played with UV, but isn't a 9w unit just a bit undersized for a 150?

Are the bio balls very bad or what ? please explain why to remove them. Actually I have the wet dry sitting inside a 55galon tank under my aquarium. But the extra space of the 4ft long 55 gallon is not inuse. I have about 2ft of free space. I wanted to have the filtered water from the wet dry spill into the open area of the 55gallon tank which i would fill with macro alagae. I didnt know keeping the bio balls was such a bad idea however please provide some more insight.
I do have a heater already also I know the uv is a bit small but a lot of people dont even use one so i guess something is better than none. but granted not used to full effectiveness i will admit. |
