Question How to control zoos

My zoos are spreading like wildfire all over my lr. How can I keep them under control and get them off certain rocks without taking the rocks out. They have spread onto rocks that contain several sps pieces and would like to remove the zoos from there.

Thanks

You can gently peel them off the rock as well as using an exacto knife to cut them off the rocks. Then you send them to me!

You can aquire "sundial snails" from a LFS. They're a predator of zoa's and do quite a good job of tacking them out To keep the snail in the area you want, simply super glue a piece of fishing line onto it, and stake out it's territory. Be careful not to allow it to get wrapped up in the SPS though, it'll starve.

I've had to isolate all mine. Most are on the sand bed.

ERICinFL, I did that to my gsp and buttons. I should have done the same with the zoos.
Thanks

Aww shucks. I was gonna say the same.

I will pay for shipping and handling, dude!! Hook me up, especially if they are super colored.

You do know that in Ebay, folks with zoos are making money off of extra colonies, right? Might want to go to ebay to get the feel of how they sell and ship zoos. They can cover some of your tank expenses easily. Good luck!

They are not very colourful, mostly brown with a slight hint of purple.

I can't ship to the US without having a CITES permit. I looked into it when I wanted to get some frags from the US to here in Ottawa Ontario...sorry dude. They certainly don't make it easy.

I'll look into Ebay.ca thanks

You can also lay a small rock right on top of them. Eventually some will move onto the new rock, then remove the rock.

It's so unfair how our brothers and sisters in Canada are treated like this, shipping wise. I don't even consider Canada a different country. At least, Ontario has embraced me as their own

I'd love the idea of purple zoos, btw. too bad, you got that right. That's my loss, eh?

I would suggest using latex gloves to handle zooanthids when using the exacto knife. They can be toxic and pretty irritating to skin.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. How do you attach the freshly cut zoos to a plug or small rock for resale?

Cheers

I actually read a thread several years ago about someone suggesting the same thing. Not that I would actually do it but dude, nothing surprises me anymore.

Cheers
