Curing live rock and lighting for it
Should the live rock be covered during curing so its in total darkness or should it receive some low light?

I wouldn't cover it unless it was outside and things could get in it, just be sure to add some sort of aeration device.
If its inside, keep it uncovered and drop a few powerheads to get some flow. Live rock is the easiest thing in a reef tank and very forgiving.

I'd give it a little fresh water dip too just in case there are are any undesirable critters in there. They'll often crawl out.
