Hermit shell is dissolving!?
I just started a tank a week ago. I used completely cycled rock, and sand from an established system and seeded my refugium with cycled mud.
I put in a couple of new hermit crabs (nice ones like orange legs, blue eyes, zebras) and now all of a sudden theres weird things going on. One of my orange legs' shell is dissolving. and one of my zebra's shell is turning white. What is the problem? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The shells turning white could be a rusult of the coraline algea on the shell bleaching. The same thing happens on old powerheads - once they are taken out to be cleaned - they turn white.
