Hermit shell is dissolving!?

I just started a tank a week ago. I used completely cycled rock, and sand from an established system and seeded my refugium with cycled mud.

I put in a couple of new hermit crabs (nice ones like orange legs, blue eyes, zebras) and now all of a sudden theres weird things going on. One of my orange legs' shell is dissolving. and one of my zebra's shell is turning white. What is the problem?

The shells turning white could be a rusult of the coraline algea on the shell bleaching. The same thing happens on old powerheads - once they are taken out to be cleaned - they turn white.
