Reef questions...

hi...

we've got a couple of questions...

we are getting a lot of salt creep around some of our tank's plumbing...currently we have been using the aquarium glue to maintain the binding, but are frustrated by the excessive creep...is there another product that works better? any suggestions would be appreciated...

also, does anyone have any advice regarding a good site to purchase a larger cleaner crew from?

thanks!

kelly

salt creep is pretty normal i think...i dont really get much of it myself, but i hear that the more splashing (or water rising up and donw from like an overflow) you have, then you'll get more salt creep.

If you are running an air wand(popular for fresh water tanks), this can and does cause excessive salt creep. This type of wand is not necessary in a saltwater setup. Just a thought.

I agree, salt creep is a normal, but irritating thing. I get it REAL bad under the tank with the open sump/fuge and rock chamber. It covers plumbing, cords, runs down the sides of the tank, pools around the bottom of the tank, Im sloppy sometimes. Every couple of days I just take my hand, scoop or scrape it off and dump it back in the tank. No big deal, I don't honestly think there is a way to get rid of it.

Good Luck and Happy Reefing,
Brianna

Use good judgement on clean-up crews. Most of the packages I've seen listed are way above what's necessary.

I've not had much luck with hermits and snails mixed either but some have. I prefer snails over crabs anyday but that's my choice. I got tired of seeing empty snail shells all over my tank.
