reeFLO pumps
Hi folks, total newbie question but I can't seem to figure out why the reeFLO Wahoo series is so much higher-priced than its Dart counterpart even though the Dart is higher gph and a bigger unit.
Thoughts? Also, does everyone recommend the Wahoo for my 75 gal.?

The Wahoo series is a pressure pump and the Dart/etc. is not.
As far as recommending a pump it depends on what you are using it for. Are you using it for a typical return system? a closed loop? or are you trying to use something that requires pressure? |

Well, I've seen on a few systems recently that you can actually combine the return and "closed loop" into one pump if you do it right... effectively doubling the variability of current but only having one actual pump. I'm looking to run straight from the sump, into the pump, and then a regular return (maybe on a seaswirl if I go for it) and then a second return on my SCWD.
I'm eyeing the Wahoo for its high gph and good reputation.

I use the Dart on my return and it's too much pump for a return. I have it dialed back by at least half as you really don't want a lot of flow through your sump. I make up for the flow via my closed loop though and I'm using the Sequence Barracuda on that and it products a hell of a alot of flow. I'm also using an OceansMotions 4-way.
The only reason I could see you using a Wahoo is if you wanted to use penductors or was feeding the tank via the sump from a very long distance. |
