My phosphate were at .5 they could be lower that was before the Phosphate reactor was in. and done with the grocery store water new RO/DI unit.
Have a low biolaod 2 clowns 1 social fairy 1 gramma 1 chromis The first thing i did was remove my old sump/refugium and skimmer ES5-2. The refugium had merical mud in it ever sence i put that stuff in i have had the problem. Not saying that is it but thats what i have tracked it back to? Know that the sump is removed i started with a new one no sand only macro, bigger skimmer CS82+ and i'm cooking 3/4 of my rock. Cleaned the other quarter that was not so bad by hand. Have a massive cleaner crew still in there turbos cerths astrea cuccumber conches Nassuries. Anyone have any other ideas?? |

How long has your tank been set up? I had a major hair algae problem when I started my tank and it took about 2 months to finally die. I got my phosphates to 0. I also don't have any fish in the tank yet just corals (tank is 4 months old). I am waiting until my tank is 6 months to put fish in so the tank can handle the extra nutrient input.

If you've got no fish and you have hair algae, your nutrient export system is woefully inadaquete.

this works for me, depending on how old your sand bed is. I vacume out the top inch of sand and wash it very well in my water i take out of the display when doing water changes.
