Green hair algea help.

I just set up a 12G Aquacube 2.5 weeks ago and green algea has appeared in my tank. I used R/o water from a LFS and my lighting schedule is MH 70w 7 hours a day. My params are as follows:

PH 8.3
Amm=0
Nitrite=0
nitrate=0
Calcuim=430
Salinity= 1.025

No livestock only 16 lbs of live rock. I was thinking about doing a 100% water change from with water wich I will test with a TDS meter and use Tropic Marine Salt. Any opinions? Thanks

Retest your Nitrate carefully and make sure it is Zero. If it is 0 then the water change out is not going to do anything. Get a clean up crew. Snails and Craps will eat it up. Is this hair or just green on the rocks and glass?

it is just normall for beginner tanks with all the nutrients it is going through with cycling give it some time and it will go away just dont do a 100% water change at the most you could do a 25%

It is green algea that is on my live rock, sand bed and glass. It looks like little feathery trees. I did not put any shrimp or fish to help cycle. I just let the live rock and sand do the cycling. Thanks

Turn all lights off and leave them off. YOu have nothing in the tank so leave the lights off until it dies off.

If you want to have the lights on do so only a couple hours per day.

I wish my algae were green the crap I have is black or brown. It ugly. Green at least is a little more pleasant to look at.

Gooooood luck.

Regards,

Pat
