scratched glass tank
Hello everyone,
I just bought a used tank from a LFS..It was their display reef tank. Anyway after getting it home and giving it a thorough cleaning I noticed that there were quite a few scratches that are still visible now that it is filled and cycling. Are there any products out there to remove/hide scratches or is this permanant? Thanks |

I know that there are buffers to buff out scratches, but i dont know what they're called. But is this tank just a regular rectangle? And is it drilled or anything? If its not drilled and is a rectangle then try turning it around so that the back is facing out instead of the front. This would only work w/a rectangle that dosnt have anything on the back but yeah...just an idea

I have an old 55 that I some beat up pretty good (my guess is moving and falling live rock) - good question, I'm thinking of cleaning it up and perhaps using it for something. So I am also interested in getting scratches out - "hops along for the ride"

scratched glass tank
Yes the tank is drilled so the 180 isn't an option...also I assume that any products out there will not leach into the water and harm anything.
Thanks |

aah bummer. I always try that before i go out and buy something.
but anyways, i dont think that buffers have anything that will leach, but i could be wrong. I know people use them i just dont know which ones. try calling a local glass place and see what they say

You might not be able to do this full with water. I believe its going to take a lot of buffing with a rotary tool, or one very very sore arm. I've never attempted this myself though.
I hope you got a good price on the tank

ya you cant have the water all the way up (if the scratches are up higher) or you'll just have to empty it if they're lower.

scratched glass tank
Oh the price was great for this 140 gal and the scratches are small...I guess I'm just fussy and thought I'd try to make it perfect.
Thanks to all who repiled !! |
