Sand
I have had my tank for about a year and 1/2 and I do not like the choice of substrate I used some fine sand and some real course stuff> I would like to have all fine stuff and more than I have now. Is it safe to try and change this? I also need more live rock, if I add more will my creatures suffer?

I did the same thing once. I caganged my substrate about 1/4 at a time every couple weels untill it was all done. Nothing bad happened and I had no problems except for a cloudy tank for a day each time i changed some,

how deep is the sand? if you have a working dsb and you disturb it you may release toxins in the water.
as for adding more rock just cure it in a seperate container before adding it to the main tank. |
