T5 height off water?
I'm going to build a canopy. How high should I build it? I'm going to buy a tek retro kit. Do I need a shield of some sort between the bulbs and the water? Ie glass or acrylic?

T5's
I am in the UK and had a T5 luminaire above my tank. The lights were about 3" above the water surface.
Found that certain corals had to be kept higher up in the tank. Depending on how many bulbs you have, you will have to consider the heat generated by the bulbs. If the canopy is enclosed, you may still have temp issues in the summer. |

Sorry, forgot to mention the luminaire had a thin perspex sheet to stop water getting to the bulbs
