MH lighting/ T5

I have a few questions in regards to MH lighting. 6.5 or 10 K and or t5 for atininc. What is the best price and pruducts. I am looking at 2 250 watt fixtures. I also would like to make my own hood. How high should the MH be a way from the water and also how high should the t5

If your doing your own hood, you can get a retro kit for much less than a whole fixture. I did my setup with electronic ballasts for around $200 and just incorporated it into my hood

I think Spider reflector's mannual suggest that the MH lamp be mounted perpendicular to the front of the tank, but I do see many people mounted it horizontally like above post. Any meaningful impact from the two different mounting positions?

Thanks for the reply and great pic.
Now I have a few questions for you.
why are you using 14K bulbs?
Do you think it would be an improvement if I placed cooling fans on the top of my hood (noise reduction and greater heat loss)?
How high are your MH?
I was also thinking about installing T5 atinics what do you think?
Thanks again

I mounted mine perpendicular, too.

The reason that I asked is that I'm considering to change it to horizontal, so that I can have some space to mount a supplemental PC or VHO bulb. In its current perpendicular position, the Spider reflection took up all the space in my canopy and I cannot put anything else in there.

Sorry, jgarrison, for hijacking your thread...

IF I mount my bulbs perpendicular do i need to do any thing else to reflect them better. I am also worried about space i would like to in corporate 3 feeders, 2 MH 250 watt, 2 48 " T5 bulbs and 2-4 4" Cooling fans and also led night lighting.
