No Critters in LR / LS? It's been 1 week a
I have yet to see any critters in my LR or LS. No trails or anything. I even used a red light to check at night, NOTHING!
mixed tap water with salt right in tank and added AMQUEL (Removes amonia, chloramines, and chlorine from tap water) The water temp was probably 67 - 70 and PH was 7.7 when I added the sand and rock, With sand and rock in tank I added buffer to get PH to 8.4 and more salt to get specific gravity from 1.018 to 1..022 Could all the LR and LS be DEAD??? If so, shoud I add some more LR and LS to get critters in the system? Thanks

One more thing...did you just add this sand/rock? if so, you probably wont see anything for a while. I didnt see my first bristle worm for like 3 months, but now there's hundreds. Same with pods, and the same for a couple of snails.

Thanks, I have been topping off my water with salt water to raise the specific gravity. Temp is now 80. LR and LS have been in tank for 7 days.
I was hoping to see pods and other hitch hikers. Should I add more LR and LS or wait?

Just wait a while...keep testing the water for amonia nitrite and nitrate...if the amonia and nitrite spike then the cycle has began, and just wait till it goes back to 0...you could probably throw in a pinch of flake food then to see if it really is cycled...i've heard that before but i dont know if it really works.

What do you mean it's been a week??? Since you set up your tank??? If so, you probably won't see anything for months. You need to be patient and give your tank some time, man... it's not like Sea Monkey's. PATIENCE is the biggest tool in Saltwater Reefing.
Also, your water temps of 67-70 are not good at all. I doubt anything will survive in those temps... How much reading have you done before setting up your tank?
