pretty funny...but not cool!!
so yesterday i bought a crab, wasn't a hermit, but im unsure of the name but will find out. but what happened was when i dropped him into the tank, two of my clowns had a straight field day with him as he was going down. one clown crab him by one claw and the other clown grabbed the other claw. they basically yanked him back and forth and then took him to the way back of the tank and just started pecking at him and then came back out. i tried looking in the back but couldn't find him anywhere...poor guy, think he's alright or should i say R.I.P. to my $5 crab? lol and this was a first, ive never seen my clowns act up like that...didn't know they were so aggressive.

hehe, is pretty funny. Not sure if he'd alive or not, none of us would be able to tell. As far as the clowns attacking him, they just thought you were throwing in food. Next time try and distract the clowns, or fully place the new addition in with your hands, lights out helps as well.

Clowns can be very territorial as you just witnessed. The next time the critter may be better served by placing him in the cover of rock so that he can use the natural environment for protection rather than being dropped in.
Regards, Pat

Shield any new entry with your hand all the way to the bottom, far corner, and edge it in among the rocks, then turn the light out for a while, so long as those clowns rule your tank.
Clowns are a sort of damsel: they're territorial and aggressive, particularly when defending their anemone/nest.

They do that with anything i throw in the in the tank, coral, food, fingers, other fish, inverts, rocks, w/e I think its partly cuz there curious and partly because they are always hungry.
