2-250s or 3-150 watt MH?
would 2 - 250s cover enough light for a 100 galon tank- 60x18x20"
to grow sps decent? id like to do 3-150s, but bulb changes will kill me, but i really like the pheonix 150 14k, not sure how the 250s will look. anyhow i apreciate your input, thanks in advance, Jaymie |

I would go the 3x150 route. Having 250 watts on a 20" tall tank is a lot of light and may damage corals. You should also get better coverage with 3 bulbs.

id go the 250 watters, more light for your SPS, if thats to strong just raise the lights alittle higher from the tank. only 50w difference any way.

do you guys think about 6-7" above is ok? I built a canopy for my t5s originally, but since going to switch to MH, i planned on just cutting holes at the top, and running a nice looking reflector setup.

I use 250s over 16" tall tanks.. no big deal. I was going to use dual 250s over a 6' long tank as well (euro-braced)... a 250watt can just barely cover 3' in length, although 2' is ideal, 2.5' each is easily do-able... esp with a tank that is 20" tall (Im talking 16-18" tall tanks in my case). Dual 250s would be my pick... and if you use 2 or 4 T5s to suppliment (48" long), you wont even notice.
