Refugium
I got a new tank, its a 55 gallon tank, and it seems to be doing good. Now my friends keep on advising me to get a refugium. So my question is, whats the pros and cons in opposition to a regular pengiun biowheel filter, it keeps the water clear. Also if i do decide to get a refugium what do i get, a hang on refugium or a sump that goes under the tank. Whats the deffrence between the two.

There are about 20 different answers to each question you posted here. Each person will have a completly separate opinion based on their preferences.
For instance: What is your purpose for the refugium? To keep Macro Algae for export of bad stuff naturally? For extra water volume to keep a more stable water between additions of top-off water and additives? To have extra sand bed for the added bio fithering capabilities of a sand bed? Do you plan on setting up a tank with DSB, SSB or BB (Deep Sand Bed, Shallow Sand Bed or Bare Bottom)? With Barebottom, the concept of a refugium is relatively pointless as the concepts behind BB is to export all bad stuff and teh concept of a refugium is to consume the bad stuff Personally, I would not go with ah HOB (Hang on Back) refugium....generally in my mind, if you are going fuge, add it on teh bottom of the tank and take advantage of the extra water volume I know this may open up many more questions for you but depending on teh question, there can be dozens of correct answers....
