Purple stuff on rocks dying
The beneficial purple algae? or whatever it is on our live rocks is turning white in spots. I think it is dying. Anyone know why? Would not changing the lights for a while be the reason?
I have 55 gallon tank 2 anemones 1 large yellow Tang 1 small blue Tang Pollups 2 Flame Coral 2 Green Mushrooms 5 small Purple Mushrooms 2 large red corals 1 Maroon Clown 1 Mandarin Lots of snails and hermits

its coraline algae. its not beneficial as far as i know. But its more just for looks. looks great when you have it everyewhere
not changing the lights could be the cause, but your corals would prolly show signs too, specially those anemane's i'd think but what is your calcium and alk at (or maybe its calcium and mag? idk..i cant ever remember but i know calcium is in there lol)

Thanks for the article on the Coraline. Very interesting. I also agree with the Tangs. Especially a large tang.
