Wow Tough question,As an ASM owner I can tell you that they work Great, Very easy to set up and use. I believe the ASM has a better pump but the 150 is built better and is a good bit cheaper.
Either one would rock a 50 gallon pretty well.

NW-150= bigger skimmer, better pump IMO, better made, cheeper, = better value IMO
ASM G1x = esaier to take apart and clean and mod. and longer history i think they both pull about the same air, (not positive) so the performance should go to the NW-150 Note they have had some problems with some of the pumps on the 150 not sure what the issue was. The discription of the nw-150 is wrong on your link.

You would need to make sure the NW150 is the "updated" ones. They have had problems that have been addressed.

Thanks again for the replies. I've read most of the ASM and Octopuss threads and it's giving me a headache.
I know I'm going to get the ASM mostly because of the Sendra pump. I think it's more reliable (based on all the reading) than the pump for the Octopuss. Now.... should I get the G2 or is that over doing it? The only difference is that it has a chamber that's 1" larger in diameter, however, it's 1 1/4" shorter than the G1-x. Isn't the height of the chamber more important than the diameter? Thanks again. |
