Closed Loop Pump & Super Squirt Question

Currently I have a Squence Reeflo Snapper 2500GPH ext pump. It has a 2" intake and a 1 1/2" ouput. I have an Ocean Motions Super Squirt for the closed loop I want to set in my 100g flat back hex tank. Here's my questions. With only having a ball valve between the above mentioned pump and some sort of reducer for the SS 1" input cause any problems to the pump or maybe the Super Squirt? Cavitation, higher heat etc..

When I asked the SS manufacturer they mentioned needing a bypass. Splitting the pump output into 1 1" line to SS and another 1" line to somewhere(another output in back of tank?) Looking for any advice or info I can get.

The ball valve is a 100% flow valve and will not cause any issues.

What is the Super Squirt rated for on flow? Maybe you are ok as is

otherwise:

Running that pump with only a 1" outlet and no relief may not be the best idea. You should plumb a return to relieve some of the back pressure or get a smaller pump.

Depending on the type/size of your pickups, it may require that you plumb that relief back to the inlet side of the pump (closed loop on a closed loop). If the pickups are restrictive relative to the amount of output, you will end up with cavitation and or microbubbles.

I would personally opt for the correct sized pump just for the sake of simplicity

The Super Squirt is rated for 2500GPH. It has 4 1" outlets.

You should be good to go... If you look inside the ball valve, you will see it flows straight through. If the device and pump are both rated at 2500gph you should not have much trouble I guess
