UV Sterilizer-do you use it, and what brand do you use?

I have a 120g + 50g sump FOWLR and an anemone-It has been recommended that I get a UV sterilizer ...... to help control algae's (due to higher nitrate levels feeding algae) my questions are;
-why do you use UV
-how long do you run it for in a 24 hour period
-what brand do you use and why do you use that specific brand?

I also want to add a UV due to a nasty recent bout of ICH that I am still dealing with....

any comments or advice is very appreciated!

uv is pretty useless imo, unless you need to kill off free-floating phytoplankton that has bloomed.

Otherwise, it will not effect the ich parasite that is attached to a fish.

What problem do you have to want to use uv light?

I see no problem with having one, but imo its not going to do much. I have one thats in the closet right now.
