Coralife Lunar Aqualights Compact Fluorescent Strip Vs. Nova Extreme T-5 Fixture
Coralife Lunar Aqualights Compact Fluorescent Strip Vs. Nova Extreme T-5 Fixture
![]() ![]() I am planning to get either type in 24" size. The Coralife has a total of 2 X 96 watts = 130 watts and the T-5 has a total of 4 x 24 = 96 watts. So which one is better? Is the higher watts of the Coralife better or the wattage does not matter but the intensity of the T-5 is actually better even though it has less wattage. By the way, the T-5 is a little more expensive. Which one would you rather get? |

The Nova fixture does not have individual reflectors. I have both units and they both work fine. The Nova gives you a wider choice of bulbs and spectrums and runs cooler but the fan will be louder. I also like the white moon lights on the Nova as opposed to the blue ones on the Coralife. The one thing I like about the Coralife is the deluxe mounting leg kit which allows you to tilt up the whole fixture out of the way for maintenence, whrereas the Nova comes with really flimsy and cheap mounting legs.

Here they are,
Aqualight Mounting Legs They're OK on a larger tank but they take up space in a smaller tank. You need about two inches of inside clearance on both sides to mount the legs to the tank. Since I didn't want to tear down the tank to redrill the overflow I sent mine back
