Algae ID please
Hey guys. I'm Cycling out my 90 gal tank now...it's been up for about 5 weeks cycling with nothing but 90 lbs of LR and a good 4 inch sand bed. All the water params are great so far, no problems there. I started noticing a weird growth on the rocks and on top of the sand bed about a week ago. Did a little research online but that didn't work out too well. Was just wondering if I can get an ID of the type of algae, or whatever else it might be, thats in my tank. It's kind of maroonish-brown and it looks like there are air bubbles forming in it...any ideas? Thanks!

cyanobacteria.could be low circulation and nutrients in your cycling tank causing it. blow it off with a turkey baster and correct your circulation. if it still proliferates after your cycle, monitor your phosphate and nitrate lvels closely. you can also use a product called red slime remover to kill it off.

and if those don't work, get as much out as you can by hand or turkey baster and do alot of big water changes.
