UV sterilizer heat issue?
This may be a dumb question but i haven't heard much about it. Would a UV sterilizer give off much heat into the water? I've just been thinking about it and if lighting accounts for most of the heat in the water wouldn't a UV sterilizer be worse since the water passes only inches away from the bulb? Just a thought...

Anthony,
UV are pretty low in wattage 8,15,25,55watts. They would not increase the temp of the tank that should cause concern. The water pass less that 1/2" away from the UV light for it to work.

Okay i was just comparing it to regular aquarium lights. I know the some UV's come in T5 and those get pretty hot. i would think a 40-50 watt T-5 only inches from teh water could cause a temperature rise. Not to mention the ballasts too.
