Protein skimmers; upgrade from Red Sea Berlin?
I currently have a Red Sea Berlin skimmer on my 75g reef setup. I'm not that happy with it. It seems to work after I clean it, but quickly clogs up. Either the venturi clogs up or the skimmer cup column gets alot of crude in it and it doesn't seem to be able to continue to skim after that.
Any suggestions for other skimmers? I'm also considering a DIY project, any suggestions or thoughts on DIY skimmers? I saw a link on here recently for a company (small place) that has some nice looking stuff, but I lost the link. Thanks for the input! |

There are plans for skimmers in the DIY forum. I'd go there if I were considering that approach.
You've got a sump, so you could consider the usual suspects: ASM, Euro-Reef, and Reef Octopus. If money is no object, Deltec and H&S are supposed to be very good. There's no objective data on skimmers, though. The CoraLife SuperSkimmer might be a good budget choice. I have the smaller version, and it seems okay.
