What kind of Algae is brown hair-like?
initial cycle to 0 ammonia completed 2 weeks ago. i only have 2 small fish in a 180 right now. i'm getting some kind of algae that is brown and hairy looking. No algae on glass.
When i google brown hair algae nothing really comes up. Is this diatom algae?

Could be. Or it could be dinoflagellates. Do you have a pic?

It could be diatoms however in most cases where it begins to grow in long strands it has already covered the entire surface and the only room is outward into the water column.
It is most likely a simple hair algae and a regular phase of the tank to maturity. Being the tank is completing its cycle and ammonia levels are at zero, it is time to add a clean-up crew.
