water from skimmer

how can I make the water that empties from my skimmer more quiet? I have a top fathom 100a and I cant seem to keep it from making a gurgling sound. If I move the return out of the water I get a water fall sound. Any thoughts??

What kind of skimmer are you using? Is it a hang on back or do you have it in the sump?

I have it figured now its in the sump I dont really trust any skimmer that hangs on or sits outside
