Question How do you get the best use out of a wet/dry pics included

I got a 75 gallon reef ready setup from a buddy of mine, and it came w/ a Oceanic trickle series 75 wet/dry.. see photos below.. Anyway, I have done some reasearch regarding getting the best use out of these, and I have come to understand that bioballs are a thing of the past, and that LR rubble is a good way to go now.. So I was planning on going that route. It will be for a reef tank... So I figured maybe I could use it as a sump/refuge.. Here are photos to help you better understand how this thing is setup..

Here is just a photo of the wet/dry

this is a view from above where you can see the tube that you connect the overflow to, you can also see the "trickle plate." This is where the bioballs were.. is this were I would put the LR? Or would it be best if it rec'd more light in one of the other compartments?

Here is another photo pretty much like above showing how the water will flow down into the first chamber and then overflow onto the "trickle plate" I was thinking I could maybe remove the trickle plate all together.. the only thing is that it would be a little loud.. which isnt that big of a deal.

Here is a look inside the wet/dry w/ the trickle plate removed. You can see that where the bioballs were is the largest section so I figured it would most likely be the best place for the LR... but there are other compartments. From this compartment on the right side there is a "raised baffle" where the water will flow under, I will probably put some sort of a sponge there to help filter out the debris. From there it goes into another compartment which is on the right side and then it comes around the front of the wet/dry where there are 3 spots to put some sort of removable baffle/dividers or whatever.. then it goes to the left side of the tank where the return is attached and it flows back up into the tank.

Here is a closer look of the 3 spots for the dividers I figure this could be for carbon or somthing? maybe a mangrove in one.. some cheato or somthing in another? I dont know..

There is also this airline tube which goes into the largest chamber what is the purpose of this?

and here is where the external return pump goes.

I also do not know the GPH rating on the system so if anyone has any info on what size pump I will need that would be appreciated as well...

basically w/ this thread im looking to get as much input from people on what they think would be the best way to go about using this for my 75 which I am going to be setting up shortly.

Thanks in advance,

Mark
