Halogen lighting
Has any one ever personally tried halogen lights or seen any reefs with halogen lights?
Im thinking of an alternative because those metal halides are too expensive... |

Very bad choice for several reasons:
- Wrong spectrum (around 3k color temp) - Efficiency which isn't much better than incandescent (15%, vs 35-40% for Fluorescent and HID) - Huge heat output (see #2)

You won't like the color - it will appear very yellow in your tank. More yellow than a 5K
