open brain question...

I've had this open brain for a couple of weeks, and I'm curious if anyone here knows what this turd like thing is on the left lobe towards the top? Is it normal? Should I try to get if off of there or just leave it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is it some of your substrate? It may be some stuff that landed on it. If it is, the brain can work stuff off of itself though it will cost the coral energy and if it has to be done repeatedly, could stress the coral. If it isn't something from the tank (substarte, detritus etc.), then I have no idea what it could be.
