Tank with side sump/fuge thoughts?

I have a 20g drilled with a bulkhead on the side and plan to have a sump/fuge right along side the tank. (I can't put a sump below). The sump/fuge is similar to a 20l so its 4 inches shorter. I plan to drain the 20h into the sump fuge and return from the other end back to my 20g.

Any tip/comments about placement of skimmers, heaters, phosphate reactors etc ...

Thanks!
