overflow box

I just got my tank drilled. Where can I buy some overflow boxes?

Are you sure you're looking for an overflow box? I thought that drilling was done to eliminate the need for an overflow box?

I don't know of any online source, but you might want to check your LFS for any extra pieces to any All Glass Aquarium Mega Overflow Kits. You might be able to find one. If not, check your local fish clubs for anyone that might have one or that does acrylic work. If worse comes to it, then you can make one yourself with some acrylic, a table router, a 1/4" router bit, a heat gun, and some silicon.

I wish I took pictures of the one that we did this weekend. It looks great. But, I didn't. I would check around the DIY Forum here on Reef Central

Maybe a skimmer box? Something to attach to the bulk head to help with surface skimming.

Go on ebay, type in overflow boxes. on there you will find one from Marinecorals that silicones to the back of the tank. It's 10 in long and made by a friend here in the burg named Gary Lindner. You can also look for a thread here on RC on how to build a Calfo overflow, by Anthony Calfo, another Reefer from the burg. Good Luck

Thanks. I was also thinking about taking the bulk head, adding an elbow up, and t'ing that off to use instead. See any problems with that? My last tank and 150gal had overflow boxes from CPR, no drilled. I am looking for an easy yet very quiet way of doing this.

LifeReef has much better siphon boxes than the CPR. Had one for two years and never failed. Bulkead overflows cant handle too much flow for some reason. Having a full vertical standpipe can handle a lot more. Hard to do anything without draining it first...

check out Austin Oceans website. I just placed an order for an overflow box. the one Im getting is 6x6x6 and I have talked with them and they say it tests out at least 800gph. They do have larger and smaller ones as well.

You could make one pretty easily. Find a local plastic store and get them to cut the acrylic pieces for you, and get some acrylic glue. You'll also need aquarium sealant (from your LFS, don't get the stuff at home depot) to glue the box to your tank (unless your tank is acrylic, then you can use the acrylic glue but its pretty permanent once you glue it in with this stuff.)

That might be the best route. I think I will use the bulk heads to attach it to the tank.
