RO Waste Water Reuse
My water bill tends to be on the high side and I am contemplating ways in order to reduce the amount of water it takes to operate my tankbesides the obvious things like glass tops, not running the fan, etc. I change 5 gallons of water every other day faithfully and use about two a day in evaporation. I was thinking how to use the waste water from my RO/DI unit. The waste line from the unit is near the washing machine in the basement and when there is laundry to do I run the water into the washer. That works great but there is not always enough laundry for the amount of water I make. I was thinking also to put the waste water into a Brute barrel and get a pressure pump and re-filtering the water through the RO/DI unit. My initial tap water has a TDS of 100 and the waste water from making a five gallon bucket, about 10 gallons, has a TDS of 153. Most booster pump can produce 60 PSI of boost pressure and I probably would have 1.5 PSI of starting pressure. I figure I can squeeze at least another two gallons of good water from the waste minimum if I let the water recirculate back into the bucket. Based upon some of the threads that I’ve read about the TDS of some tap waters I figure it won’t hurt anything. Anybody ever try this?
