reef octopus hob skimmer

so i got the hob skimmer from octopus last week for my 55gal. it took li ke overnight for the thing to start pumping out skimmate and at most its dirty water. i have the collection cup all the way down and the foam still only gets right up to the edge of the tube.

who has this model too? and do you have pictures of youres set up and working? what am i doing wrong?

i have the dual model bh 300 has been running in saltwater for a week tons of micro bubbles still but it is begining to foam up. I dont see a change in raising or loweing the cups.
