Anyone try this skimmer?

Hey I have a 60 gallon that I am going to set up again but am still in the planning stages. I am thinking of getting a trigger systems TS 150 for my tank, as I want a skimmer that will really have some punch.
I saw one on a reef tank once and it looked pretty good, and for 300
bucks it looks like one heck of a skimmer.

It looks like a typical beckett skimmer. Nothing really special. Becketts need a good pressure rated pump on them to perform good ( which will also require more electricity than many other needle wheel skimmers ). In general expect to pay another $100+ for a good pump. It's been several years since I used a beckett but at the time, Mak4 pump was a solid choice.

I think i will be getting the largest trigger systems beckett for a large system I am planning setting up in about 2 years. They look like great skimmers. The TS 150 would probably do a great job on your tank (just assuming, never used one before though), but for $300 plus $100+ for a pressure rated pump, thats a lot of dough for a skimmer on a smaller tank.

There are NW's that are cheaper and would do just as good a job. I think becketts are better suited for larger tanks especially b/c good NW's for large tanks are ludicrously expensive.

Thanks for the pump advice. I have never used a beckett style skimmer before and was wanting try one out.

What is a NW skimmer?

I don't mind dropping the cash if they are much better than a skimmer like an asm or something. Plus I may upgrade to a larger tank at some point.
