White stringy stuff?

Some white stringy stuff just started forming on my Tubipora musica (pipe organ...duh, I'm sure most of you here know that already, but I'm still new to this). What could it be? It almost looks like a stringy sponge. I will try and post a pic once I figure out how. It was out more than it ever had been yesterday, and today there is this stuff causing half of it to remain closed up. It looks like it is spreading rapidly....
