? should I get the 29 Bio Cube or a 55-100 gal show tank?
Just for kicks I have been looking at for sale tanks here locally and I can get a plexi tank and stand with basics for under $200 so I wonder if I should just go that route rather than the bio cube, I am going to do my own led lunar lighting and if I go with that size it should be pretty easy to make a lighting choice. Anyone have some opinions to help me decide?

go big, you will upgrade eventually anyway so you should start out with something you will not get bored with easy.. just my 2 cents .

that is kind of what I was thinking just was not sure if there were any real downfalls to it. I am finding that locally it is easy to find free LR (or cheap) and a lot of the reef clubs here offer free frags and such I have already joined 2 of the local clubs. I say this since this has to be low budget and I was afraid the big tank would cost significantly more to build up but I think with all of this it will be easier. I just got a free SeaClone Protein Skimmer and may be getting 60lbs of Salt from a former enthusiast...

I agree. Go big. The 55 I have now isn't big enough and the new 75 I just picked up will probably be upgraded a couple years after I set it up.

Go as big as you want to maintain and as big as you want to spend.
Even with free frags and stuff like that i have spent an insane amount of money on a ten gallon nano, things add up real real fast. I wish i could go bigger but it is simply not an option for me at this point in my life. Everyone wants to upgrade, its in our blood (lol) so get the bigest tank you can afford and want to maintain for the next ??? years. |

well fortunatly I am used to maintaing tanks and ponds so I am not too worried about that I just do not want to overso the pocket book. I found a 70gal plexi online here locally for $100 does anyone feel that is not a good deal? I have found several glass tanks for around $150-200 with stands from 50-150 gallons but I just don't know that I want glass again I used to hate the look of the siliconed corners the plexi just looks so much "cleaner" anyone like glass over plexi for a particular reason?

my prefrence plexi glass > normal glass
plexi is stronger and you can repair scratches scratched glass = ruined tank
