Algae in overflows

Anyone cover their overflow to reduce this? I'm cleaning mine weekly. I have 0 algae in my tank, but HA grows like mad in the overflow. Curios what others do.

I just clean it out with a toothbrush. Then I put it back to see if anyone notices when they use it to brush their teeth :-). Just kidding.

I clean mine every couple of weeks as it does slow the overflows down after a while. I'm too lazy to make covers for the overflows.

Cover them with black arylic or some other inert opaque material and the algae will be gone in less than a week. I finally realized what algae can do when my 65 gallon tank almost overflowed.
