what's up the leather coral?
Okay it has been a couple of days and my leather coral is as smooth on top as a baby's but. I have had it for about 3 months and it has grown very well. The hair like feelers usually extend a qtr. inch or so. But they haven't in a couple of days. Anyone else experience something like this? All Nitrate, Ammonia, Nitirite etc. in check. Last time the mag and Calciun was checked a couple of days ago. Mag was at 380 and calcium at 1380. Feedback???

Normal, leathers tend to close up every once and a while, let him be and give him a few days. He'll be back before you know it.

I think you have your Ca and Mg backwards Neither of those should be affecting it though (only thing would be Alk). Its common for them to close up for a bit as part of their growth cycle.

yes I have Cal and mag confused. It is good to know that closing up in part of its thing. That is mainly what I was asking. Because all water parameters are ideal...
thanks!!! |

Mine did that and then it shed and was beautiful afterward. Make sure it has decent flow.

Aim a source of circulation at it to help remove the protein coating and it will be fine. Or just blow it off everyday till it opens up again. Very normal.
