Sound proofing?
Any material that will reduce noise that I can purchase at Home Depot or Lowes?
Thanks

I didn't know we could purchace noise at Home Depot... sorry... bad joke.
I don't think you're going to be happy with any manner of noise reduction short of removing the source of the noise. Even reducing the noise by a factor of 100 would only drop the decibles by 20. The human ear is just way to developed to defeat with mear muffling. The faint noise will still be detectable, and will be all the more irratating. The real solution is to plumb your tank so that all the works are in a different room. |

what do you want to soundproof? I soundproofed my tank room by putiing the soundproof insolation that I bought at home depot. Works really well and didn't cost much

Recently my wife mentioned that we might get some Dynamat to soundproof the tank, don't know if it would work though.

I put my pump and chiller through the wall into the formal living room that we never use.

I'm more worried about how marine life accepts my noise. I'm really into home theater and love low frequency effects. When a explosion happens on screen I can feel it. Could someone comment on this?

Celotex makes a sheet of soundproofing material you can buy at HD. It looks a lot like a brown Homosote, but it is about half the cost, and seems more dense yet still very light.
