anyone help please? Aqua C Remora Pro

I have a aqua c remora pro w/ mag 7 pump and it doesn't seem to be collecting. I empty the collection cup and it has nothing but clean water in it. As soon as I put the empty cup in it will be full within a matter of minutes. Not sure since it's not collecting alot of my zoanthids are not opening up, mushrooms not near as big as usual and star polyps not really coming out. It's been this way for about two week so hopefully this can be fixed soon. All water perameters are stable. I just did another water change just in case but it's been a coulple of days and nothing has changed. Any bit of advise would be great.

I am not exactly familiar with that particular model, but doesn't it use a mag 3 pump. Too powerful of a pump might cause it to overskim and give watery skimmate? Maybe try raising the collection cup.

A Mag 7 is a perfect upgrade to a Remora Pro, the manufacturers will say the same. It will indeed force more water through the skimmer however, so you will have to raise your collection cup to prevent overflowing.

Other things to remember with Remoras: Clean the "injector nozzle" and especially the tube that leads to the collection cup as often as you can.

Do you have the collection cup raised as far it will go? If its a new skimmer to you, make sure you put the O-ring on the collection cup so its not all the way down in the skimmer.

I have done nothing abnormal in the past couple of weeks, just did a good cleaning when I did my water change. I ran the brush through the removable screw but seemed to be pretty clean. this has been running probably 8 months now. It seemed to pull a bunch of crap out in the beginning but not so good now. Is there any other area's of the skimmer that I need to concentrate on? It's a pretty simple skimmer and use to do a pretty good job.
Does anyone think this maybe is causing trouble to the corals? Salinity was a little high and also calcium so I did a water change to lower these and nothing seems to be any happier.
