Sick Clown

I have a small percula who has been sitting atop the tank near surface. Looks like his fins are deteriorating and not eating. Not Ick. The other 4 fish in the 20 are fine. Water paramenters are fine and just did a water change.
Anyone have any ideas????

Thanks

It's possibly being harrassed or even attacked by the existing fish. If you have a quarantine tank available I'd move it there, feed heavily (watch water parameters) and nurse it back to health.

When it's healthy reintroduce it and confuse the territories so the other fish are a bit confused. some people recommend rearranging the rockwork which imo is a bit extreme. An alternative is to put a couple of colorful glass containers in the tank for a few days, that'll confuse the other fish.

I'd get a hospital tank put together and try treating for fungal and bacterial infections. Maracyn 2 might be a good place to start.

small fish . . . "deteriorating" fins . . . not eating . . . 4 other healthy fish (what type of fish?). . . my guess is that he's not a very popular clown and is getting picked on. When fish harass each other they almost always go for the pectoral fins IME. Every type of infection that I've ever come across (all freshwater) has been visible to the naked eye. Definitely isolate it and nurse it back to health, may it'll have better luck when you introduce it the second time around.

The structure might help some, provided the clown can still feed. I still think it'll be pretty stressful.
