wouldn't that cure fish life too? I may be ignorant of this technique but my spidy senses tell me it is not a good idea. Subscribing to see if anyone has had success with this. Please, enlighten me too.

How long to dip?
How long do you dip? i have a Lionfish. I use Clout too, and I am debating between quarantining him win a Clout tank, or freshwater dipping him.

I have in the past with varying degrees of success. I have had good luck curing the ich but still have lost some fish. Sometimes you have to repeat it. Don't know if was the result of the parasite or the stress of catchinh him, dip, reintroducing him, etc.

What is clout? Do I have to convince my fish that I am serious? JK seriously I have a fish with ich but am guessing it would kill the poor basdurt to dunk him... but given the alternatives... I may try it.

Most ich is buried too deep and is protected by the white cyst you see..A dip won't cure ich with or without Clout.
Dips can help, however, with Flukes

I have used a dip for quick relief for a highly infected fish but I do not view it as a cure. A cure would be to rid both the fish and the tank of the ick. A freshwater dip can not do that by itself. It is possible a dip can help a fish get over the hump and fight off the ick themselves but the dip itself adds to the stress and you have to be very carefull about the temp, ph, and airation. All in all I don't think it is of much use for ick and not a cure in my definition.

hmmm, my guy is eating like a hog but has the specs. I guess if I'm gonna do it I will hospitolize him in a 2.5 gal jug and do daily water changes and 24hr airation... but that will likely be hard on him.

10 gallon tanks are pretty cheap these days but it doesn't sound as if your serious enough to try and help the fish.
Hypo and copper are the only proven cures, both need to be done in a qt tank..

Cure
Clout works on all fish, but care must be taken with Lionfish, and Sharks. You guys use what you want. Thank you for your input on the dips. I got to know what I was after. Bttrflygrl...Clout is a proven method. I have used it for years. Usually it kicks the **** out of Ich. I mean I am not afraid of Ich at all. It does need to be cured as it will kill the fish if not treated. Bttrflygrl not sure if you were directing "doesn't sound as if your serious enough to try and help the fish", but if it was then you would be incorrect. You may believe in Clout, or you may not, but the only time Clout ever failed me was when I forgot to remove the carbon from the filter, and the medication was being removed from the water by the carbon, for days before I realized my error.

bttrflygrl Clout has not been proven in salt H20 because nobody uses it. I will not say it is better, or worse than the ones you mentioned because I have not needed to try them. Sorry did not mean for this to turn into something between us. I just thought you were addressing me. My bad. Thanks.............Thanks to everybody else too....
