pump that can do 12' head and about 30 feet from the tank and sump
im wondering if someone can show me which pump i should check out and the prices..
im thinking back n forth.. having the sump in living room or laundry room.. im building a house right now and i was considering putting my sump and everything in the laundry room for easy water changes and keep the noise there and the display tank will be in living room living room is on the second floor and laundry is on the first floor.. i have 9' ceiling and the top of the tank would be about 3' higher than the height of the sump so thats why from my caculation it would be about 12' im planning on getting from 90 to 120 gallon tank setup thanks in advance |

You're looking for a high head pump. Are you looking for internal or external. IMO the external pumps are better and last longer. They sure don't need cleaned as often IME. I like the Iwaki's, and the blueline and panworld I think are about the same and are even made by the same chief engineer. Or something like that, I don't know the whole story but there's some connection.
I have a friend that has had some ampmasters and he apparently likes those but IIRC they can't do the head pressure like some of the others. That or just the models he had couldn't. Look in the selling forum I think there's an Iwaki external with high pressure for sale that could do 60 something feet if you needed even.

from my experience many external pumps are quieter then internal pumps!!
Velocity pumps are silent ... would not work on a 12ft head though Sequence Reflo series are also VERY quiet, some silent Iwaki's are a little louder Have you considered putting the sump under the tank & simply plumbing a drain into the laundry room so when you do want to do a h20 change, you can simply turn a gate valve to drain the water. Or if you want to siphon out the bottom when you do the change set it up so you must connect the siphon to the drain. Then you can have a mixing tank in the laundry room so you can mix the salt there, turn a gate valve & plug in the pump & fill up your tank with the same line that you used to drain the water

I use the Sequence Marlin pump, pretty quiet, and lots of head pressure. Check it out it runs really cool too, my tanl temp actually dropped when I switched from two Gen-X to one Marlin by two degrees.

yes my first plan was having a drain pipe and water coming up thru a 4 inch pcv that way i can route things around or something.. but my friend suggested to have the sump with all pumps in laundry room due to noise.. that way the tank itself will be super quiet.. im very open to options.. whatever ur inputs and best rotue is ill consider them.. if the sump and pump going to be in laundry room then its not too noise senstive at all as its noisy room already (furnace and bunch other stuff there)
i still havent purchased anything yet.. but leaning toward to 4 or 5 foot wide bowfront tank and 30 inch high aprox 18 inch in the middle and 10 on the sides i beleive.. |

I'm running a T4(poseidon/velocity) from my basement sump over 26' and up 14'-comes out to around 600-700 gph. It is literally dead silent, I touch it to see if it is on. They run warm, but not nearly as bad as people think they do. My tank dropped about 1.5 degrees from the Mag18 I was running internally.
Having the sump/equipment in the basement is great-the only sound from my tank is a slight gurgling from the overflows. Jim

where do u get more information about that pump james77? and did u do any mods on your overflow? was looking at couple mods people did such as herbie mod.. im considering doing simlar to that..
i think im pretty convinced to have it in that laundry room right now due to the sound and less hassle of worrying about making mess when doing water change or those type of stuff.. |

Marinedepot sells them, the T3 and T4 are the same price(i think) and same wattage, but the T4 puts out more flow. The T4 has a barbed fitting, so you need to adapt it from 1" vinyl to PVC- they sell that adapter at marinedepot also. I have durso style standpipes. I also cut all the teeth out on my AGA megaflows and replaced them with gutter guard- it is far more effective at surface skimming.
