Kent Nano Reef part A&B

does anyone use this? i just bought some yesterday and have started doping the tank up. on the bottle it says to use 1 ml per 4 gallons tank capacity. is this total size of tank(in my case 20g) or only by water volume?

ALWAYS error on the side of caution. I would estimate your total water volume, not total size, then adjust according to your test.

it works good, its just a little week compared to some the other 2 parts. but dont go by the instructions on dosing. test you calcium and alkalinity and go from there.

my calcium tested at 300 and my alk was 14-15dKh... i know that this is off but will the kent stuff level it out? BTW, i have a 20g with 40lb LS and 35lb LR... i am guessing that i have about 12 gallons of water. what do you think?

I would raise calcium independent from the two part or just use the calcium part to raise it. The two part solutions are made for maintaining levels and not for elevating calcium or alkalinity separately. A water change with a quality salt is what I would suggest. Then keep on a dosing schedule.

i would say you probably have close to 15g. since you alk is up, you can just dose part A to get the calc up. however being that the calc is that low with the alk that high, your magnesium may be a little low. or it could be your tank isnt matured yet and the calc/alk balance is still working itself out. i would start just dosing the part A, and see if you calc raises any. heres a calculator to help with the amount to dose. and dont add it all at one time . http://jdieck1.home.comcast.net/chemcalc.html

its probably still going through the calk/alk cycle. dose some calc part A, and test. in a few weeks everything should balance out. then start dosing both parts as needed.

This might help you calculate your actual water volume:
