herbie overflow question

If you have a dual megaflow tank, and use both overflows as herbies (2 sipon, 2 emergency), can you tie the 2 siphon drains together and use a larger diameter pipe with just one valve to control the flow? I know people have trouble dialing in 2 seperate herbies, but would this work? That way, you would only need to make adjustments to one pipe instead of balancing 2.

One issue I would see is, the valve is usually the site of clogs, IME "snail dams". Having both into 1 would increase the chances of both drains becoming clogged at the same time. I haven't had any trouble dialing in the flow for 2 separate drains.

I don't see this as a problem... typically if you have 2 overflows then your drains are at least 1" pipes... if you connect them to say 1.5" common drain and then put a 1.5" gate valve on it, then it should work. And provided that it's reasonably open (not 80% closed) the valve shouldn't cause a problem as a potential obstacle to things that might want to clog it. And 1.5" pipe is hard to clog... ... besides... that's why you have 2 additional emergency drains which are just waiting for the main to clog, to kick in w/glee.
