cleaned skimmer, breaking in again?

ok so i cleaned my skimmer the other day. now its worked fine since june but since i cleaned it seems to be breaking in again.

is this normal?

Mine did the same thing. Took a week or two for me to get it adjusted correctly again and start producing good skimmate.

That's why I only clean my skimmers once a year or less.

Right on. When you make it new it acts like new. I wouldn't change the settings though as it should skim at the same level once it's broken in again.

It depends on your skimmer, tank, how hard it works, etc. Typically when I clean just my cup/neck, I have roughly a 24 hour ramp up period for it to be back to full operation. 100% cleaning (skimmer offline, vinegar, pump cleaning, etc) takes a good couple of days to kick back into high gear. Simple things like re-lubing your silicone o-rings can cause a delay in head/skimmate as well.
