Hey marine biologists, got a question for ya

Im sorry if this isnt exactly reef discussion material, but I am writing a paper on ocean acidification and it effects on coral reefs and marine organisms

My question is, Approx. how many different species of marine life feed directly on zoo plankton?

That'd be a daunting count. You'd be better off simply working with major categories of fauna (there's so darn much that feeds on zooplankton), and maybe emphasizing commercially important ones depending on what kind of paper you're writing.

species is entirely too broad. You should really narrow it down to the class or order level. If you want a big, 'punch' number you should mention a few classes and the number of species within. The problem with that is if you're writing a scientific paper, the last thing you want is emotional 'punch.'

However you do this, you're going to want to look at a cladistic level much higher than species for this
